About This Partner
The Stonemasons Cottage is a rural Community Interest Company (CIC) nestled in the North Sperrins. Their primary mission is the meticulous restoration of a B1 listed building in Ballyrory, originally built circa 1843 by Michael and Mary Deeny. Featuring a historical cruck truss roof structure and thatched under tin, the cottage represents a vital piece of Ulster’s built heritage. The organisation aims to transform the site into a Practice Learning Centre for Heritage Building Skills, teaching traditional stonemasonry, thatching, and carpentry. Partnering with STRIDE, Stonemason’s Cottage CIC sought a digital solution to share their rich history, oral traditions, and restoration journey with a global audience. The resulting digital heritage website provides a vital platform for historical tourism, community storytelling, and the preservation of traditional rural craftsmanship.
