About This Project

Stonemason’s Cottage CIC wanted a simple way to share the history of their restored 1840s listed cottage, promote heritage skills, and engage the wider community online. We supported them through a design thinking workshop and built a user-friendly website that hosts stories, photos, videos, podcasts, and event information, with QR code access for easy sharing.

Design Thinking Workshops

Thirteen participants (eleven in person and two online) attended The Stonemason’s Cottage Design Thinking Workshop on 5th November 2025. They explored ways to digitally share stories, photographs, and other historical information and skills around the cottage that can both link to and be disseminated from an online platform. It is hoped that the success of the digital solution will build greater interest in and awareness of the cottage, its heritage and culture. Working collaboratively, STRIDE and its representatives from the Stonemason’s Cottage developed an online presence for the cottage.
Deliverables
STRIDE deliverables included:
• A user-friendly website with content including: Purpose and Vision, History and Heritage, Stories, Heritage Skills, Videos, Linked Communities, Events and a Map.
• QR Code so that the website can be quickly included in future Learmount newsletters, Facebook or Instagram accounts.
• Nine Training Videos.

Results & Impact

Stonemason’s Cottage CIC now has improved online visibility, a long-term digital archive for the cottage, and community-led content updates with a new website. Additionally, one person was trained to add pictures, video and podcast content to the site.
